We will increase transport fares if government does not reduce fuel price – Alhaji Sumaila
The Ashanti regional chairman of Ghana Private Road Transport Union GPRTU, Alhaji Ishmaila Sumaila indicated their outfit will soon increase transport fares.
His comment comes after the statement made by the communication manager of NPA, Mohammed Abdel Kudus saying the government has no influence in the increment of the fuel pricing since anything bought from the world market is incurred by the purchaser not the government.
Alhaji Sumaila stressed that, if the government indeed has no influence in the increment of fuel in the country, then the GPRTU has influence in their fieldwork to increase transportation fare.
According to him, the government is obligated to take care of the people and their needs so as the increment of fuel price.
He stated that heads of the GPRTU have submitted a letter to the government to help Ghanaian drivers and if the government refuse to reduce the price of fuel, ‘GPRTU” will increase the transport fares.
