No insults this time, campaigning should be issue-based – Wontumi calls for unity

The Ashanti regional chairman of the New Patriotic Party, Antwi Bosiako who is widely known as Chairman Wontumi has advised all and sundry to avoid politics of insults with respect to the NPP upcoming regional and national executive elections.

The known firebrand politician reckons the utmost interest of the party should always be supreme to avoid internal wrangling in the party.

Wontumi speaking with Ali Baba Dankambari on Breaking News stressed the need for unity to prevail considering the supreme interest of the party to retain power in 2024.

“In 2014 the party was in opposition and I was voted as the chairman of the Ashanti region. With the favour upon by God, I was able to work and bring the party to power.

We held a regional delegate conference yesterday in the Ashanti region and it was all about opinions and suggestions to make the party better.

It was not about campaigning ahead of the regional and executive elections. For the elections, if anyone wants to campaign, he can and it must be issue-based.

There should be no insults. I have told the people who follow me not to insult. It is just internal appointment and unity is very important at this time and always.” He said.

The Ashanti regional chairman believes getting things done right at the very basic level will enhance the party’s supreme interest in breaking the 8 in the 2024 general elections.
