Taking your physical cash to MoMo agents to send won’t be affected by the E-levy – GRA (Video)
As the implementation of the E-levy draws closer, much education needs to be done about the introduction of the new Electronic Levy by the NPP government.
In spite of an application filed by the NDC to place an injunction on the implementation, the Government has began the initiative.
It should be noted that deductions will be made from Wallet to Wallet, that is when a subscriber sends an amount from GHC100 from his number to another subscriber’s number.
But if you take physical cash to an agent to send for you, the levy charges will not be affected because that will be from a Merchant number to a subscriber’s number.
With this, the charges which are applied are the third party charges which are usually paid to the MoMo vendor, eg if sending GHC100, a third party charge of GHC1 will be added and if you would want the receiver to withdraw the money at the same amount which is GHC100, you add GHC1 to make it GHC101 which will be sent plus the GHC1 third party charge.
Ransford Abekah, Secretary for the Mobilemoney Association of Ghana in an interview with Kwame Appiah Kubi on Kessben TV threw more light on the charges.
