AYAWASO VIOLENCE: Better late than never to compensate victims – Tawiah Quansah
The former Central Regional Minister, Hon. Aquinas Tawiah-Quansah has stated that the recommendations set to investigate and duly compensate respectively the victims of the West Ayawaso Wugon violence should not be neglected.
According to him, victims were been visited on a regular basis but at a point, it ”seems like” the government has completely ignored these cases, therefore if the government is to re-start its compensation process, ”it is better late than never” he noted on Maakye with Omanhene Yaw Adu Boakye.
However, Hon Aquinas Tawiah-Quansah stressed that the committee should deal with those who issued the shooting command and any other person who is involved respectively to serve as a lesson to Ghanaians.
Mr. Quansah claimed that these people are untrained personnel and they are freely parading at the doors of the National Security. He stated that the laws of Ghana forbid National Security to entertain persons who haven’t received any formal training in the office.
”I don’t have an issue if you want to put your goons at the national securities, but on operations like these, you need trained personnel” he said. “We have trained personnel in the security services therefore they are to handle these operations” he added.
The Greater Accra Director of communications, NPP, Uncle Ebo taking a bite on the issue condemned the act, he noted that the incident that took place was uncalled for and very unnecessary and this incident should not be allowed to repeat in the next elections.
