Angry SHS leavers allegedly burn Nyinahin SHS boys’ dormitory because of strict invigilation
Fire gutted the boys’ dormitory of Nyinahin Catholic Senior High School on Friday night, Kessben FM Breaking News has gathered.
Our reporter, David Love reporting from Nyinahini told Ali Baba Dankambari that it took about two hours to fight the fire-outbreak by the Ghana fire service.
An extra fire-fighting vehicle from the Nkwawie fire service had to come in to help extinguish the fire before the blaze went down.
Investigations have commenced about what might have caused the sudden fire outbreak in the school. Before Friday’s night fire outbreak, there had been rumours circulating about the final year students who were sitting for their WASSCE papers threatening to burn the school after they complete due to what they describe as strict invigilation by the school.
“We got the information on Friday night that there is a fire outbreak in the school so we had to quickly call for the fire service. The fire service team tried to quench off the fire but it was still blazing high. We had to call for another fire service vehicle from Nkwawie.
They too came and the fire eventually went down. I went there this morning to check the latest development so far and most of the guardians and parents are there for their wards. When the incident happened, the senior housemaster wasn’t around.
The juniors we’ve been able to speak with are saying when the fire started, they were at Prep learning. For now, we cannot point to anyone behind but most of the juniors are saying they apparently heard their seniors saying they will burn the school after they complete due to the strict invigilation” David said on Kessben FM.
The District Chief Executive of the area has informed the chief about the incident and investigations into the fire outbreak have begun.
Most of the students who finished their papers were scheduled to leave the school today (Saturday). Our reporter noted that so far one student has been arrested in connection with the fire outbreak.
