We Take Up Appointment To Serve – Abankwah-Yeboah

The incumbent National Treasurer of NPP who is lacing his boots to battle it out with other aspiring contestants for the party’s Chairmanship position says political appointment is a service to the country and the people. The immaculate, suave, soft- spoken Abankwa made this assertion when he spoke to Kwame Nkrumah Tikese on OK FM Ade Akye Abia morning show to give his views on going-ons in the NPP after the announcement by the Local Government Minister on the nomination list of the long awaited MMDCE s and aftermath.

The host asked him why he has not scrambled and clamored for juicy positions in the country but has couched himself in his small corner as a party treasurer after four good years service to the party like others. “Well, the President is the appointing authority , he has the right to put you at a position he believes you can deliver or perform. By the grace of God, l was made a Board member of the Agricultural Development Bank and l must say we have really worked hard”.

The suave and cultured speaker Abankwa intoned that, as a member of the Board of ADB, together with his colleagues, they have tremendously turned things around . “We came and met a deficit of negative 50million, but as l speak, we have achieved positive 65million Ghc within four years on our books like never before ! We want to concentrate on our farmers for whom the bank was established. The Bank intends to increase loan portfolio in agriculture to 50percent by end of 2022”, he disclosed. The aspiring Chairman said he is the chairman of the audit committee looks at all audit reports in the banks activities including departments, loans, purchases ,legal etc

He’s also on other committees at the bank . He opined that when you are given an appointment, it is a privilege to give off your best and not to see it an opportunity to cash in . According to him it’s a call to serve the people and the country. He therefore advised all government appointees to work to the desire and expectation of the people and the president who gave them that opportunity.

Mr Abankwa humbly told the host that since the president has the constitutional wherewithal to put anyone anywhere, he is prepared to serve in any position the president may deem fit and appropriate for him . On his Chairmanship bid when he was asked, he told the host that, by the grace of God if the nomination is opened next year, He would pick nomination forms and contest.

“After serving two terms as a hardworking, transparent treasurer, l want to transpose the experience l have gained over the years into the ultimate position to serve the party. I have a good rapport with the rank and file within the party ; so far, so good. “Since l assumed that position ,l can say that by the grace of God ,things have tremendously improved for the better. Remittances to the regions are always on course, l don’t discriminate and am open to everyone, so, let’s wait on the Lord”, he pontificated.
