MPs do not construct roads but advocate for development – Hon. Sylvester Tetteh

Hon. Sylvester Tetteh, the member of Parliament for Bortianor Ngleshie Amanfrom has noted that it’s never a responsibility for a member of Parliament to construct roads in his/her constituency.

According to the lawmaker, a member of Parliament can only advocate for developments to be done in his or her constituency through lobbying for projects.

Speaking on Accra-based Kessben 92.9 FM with Omanhene Yaw Adu Boakye on Maakye, Hon Sly Teteh stressed that the responsibility of development lies on the Municipal chief and District chiefs executives in the constituents.

He noted that to have a good development in a constituency, there must be a good relationship between the Member of Parliament and the MMDCE.

“MPs do not construct roads but are advocates for development in the constituency. The MPs advocate for developmental projects”.

”They can lobby for projects and see to it that other developments are done in their constituencies”

The parliamentarian stressed the need for MPs and MMDCEs to collaborate and team up to chase projects but added that at some point there may be disagreements between the two but that shouldn’t go to the extend of destruction.
