Test Reveals No Pregnancy On Takoradi “Kidnapped Pregnant Woman”

The nine month old pregnant woman saga Josephine Panyin who went missing on September 16 and was found on September 22, 2021 which has caused alot of question in the minds of Ghanaians. However, several test were ran on her which indicated that she faked the pregnancy.

Childbearing is one of the challenges some couples face in their marriage due to losing of a spouse or pressure from family members and society. Due to this challenges, some individuals go to the extreme in order to satisfy their spouse and the society. Dr Frank Ankobia president of GMA and a gynecologist told Omanhene Yaw Adu-Boakye that, sometimes when a lady misses her period, she assumes she is pregnant but there is alot more to it.

When asked whether he has come in contact with women faking pregnancy before, he said yes it does exist. Dr Frank said, there is something called pseudocyesis which is the belief that one is expecting a baby when she is not really carrying a baby.

He said the rate at which some couples are been expectant of babies, they however pretend to be pregnant but they are not. psychologically, the woman starts behaving like she is pregnant in terms of her dressings and all. He added that, women go through some drastic change in their bodies.

Doctors are able to differentiate between a pregnant woman and a woman who has just delivered. In relation to the Takoradi “kidnapped pregnant” woman’s issue, he said, Families of the victim can confirm results from other hospital if they are not convinced with the statement made by the police.
