My GRAMMY Nomination Came When I Wasn’t Looking For Nomination – Rocky Dawuni Reveals

Ghanaian International reggae musician, Rocky Dawuni has made a statement about his Grammy nomination which makes him the first Ghanaian musician to earn a nomination at the Grammy Awards.

Rocky Dawuni received a nomination for his sixth studio album titled “Branches of The Same Tree” at the  Grammy Award. Best Reggae Album in December 2015 for the 58th Annual Grammy Awards.

The Ghanaian reggae artiste has revealed that he did not expect a nomination from the International awards scheme.

According to him in an interview with Andy Dosty on Hit FM’s DayBreakHitz, he disclosed that the Grammy nomination came when he was not expecting or looking for a nomination. But was only focused on creating a record in studio.

“My GRAMMY nomination came when I wasn’t looking for nomination. I was just focused on creating a record, he said.

Rocky also urged Ghanaian artistes to concentrate on creating vastly logical albums, that would reflect Ghanaian culture to the world.

“Artistes should focus on creating greatly standardized albums; the body of works that would reflect our culture to the world”.

Rocky Dawuni is a legendary Ghanaian reggae artiste, known for creating authentic music to inspire and for development.
