Ghanaians Agitated by The DO-or-DIE Comment by Former Prez Mahama – Lawyer Obiri Boahen
Ghana has been ranked as one of the most peaceful country in the world but becoming unsafe due to some utterances by the political leaders. When quizzed on the former President John Dramani Mahama’s statement on Omanhene’s show Maakye, He made reference to the 2020 elections that “John Dramani Mahama started from a wrong premises and ended at a wrong conclusion. Thus, He did not appreciate the legal implication of his petition made to the highest court of land.
He criticized the former president for his latest comments “It is said that you learn your lessons from things that happened in the past , so we have also learned from 2020. The elections will be won or lost at the polling station. The station will be do or die affair….I haven’t said all die be die.
According to Lawyer Obiri Boahen, Mahama is only giving out ‘senseless’ threats to the NPP. Victor Smith the leading member NDC indicated that the country wants and demands peace. Therefore all political leaders, electoral commission, state counsels and government must promote peace and pleads that we do not repeat the things that happened during the 2020 general elections.
According to him, former president Mahama’s comment is a caution and advised the leaders and citizens as well as security agencies not to be influenced by any political party to bring tension in 2024 election and added it must be free, fair and transparent.
Therefore former president Mahama’s comment ‘Do-OR-DIE’ expression is to alert and awaken leaders, security agencies and citizens not to be influenced by any political party but to promote a free and fair democracy
