Rampaging elephants destroys 300 acres of farms at Assin Sabaa

Residents of Assin Sabaa in the Central Region of Ghana are calling on authorities to come to their aid after a number of elephants invaded farmlands in the community.

According to Oheneba Ambruce, Kessben FM’s reporter in the Central Region of Ghana, the elephants destroyed produce worth GHC70,000 on about 300 acres of farmlands. Speaking with Ali Baba Dankambari on Breaking News, Oheneba Ambruce noted that the owners of the farms are very aggrieved over the happenings citing this is not the first time.

“What really pains them is the fact that this is not the first time the elephants have invaded their farmlands. It appears every year, the elephants invade the farmlands and destroy their produce. It’s been a heavy blow for them as harvesting was just near for this to have happened.”

“Right now they are in difficult times. What they will eat and take care of their children have become a problem. They are therefore calling on the forestry authorities and the wildlife authorities to come to their aid”.

The farmers have warned to kill the elephants if the authorities do not come to their aid and ensure to prevent future happenings.
