SIGA Interacts With GBC And CBG Leadership
The State Interests and Governance Authority (SIGA) yesterday hosted the Ghana Broadcasting Cooperation (GBC) and Consolidated Bank of Ghana (CBG) at its Second Series of Pitching the Successes of our Specified Entities.
Pitching the successes of our specified entities is a platform created by SIGA for states owned entities to talk about their past, present and future to you, the people of Ghana, upon whose mandate they exist.
The Director General for SIGA, Hon. Stephen Asamoah Boateng in his welcome address reiterated that it is always advisable for the people we serve to be privy to our successes as well as our challenges so that collectively we can come together as one to guard the successes and also solicit for ideas to overcome the challenges facing us.
The Managing Director for CBG, Mr. Daniel Addo in his thirty (30) minutes presentation gave a brief background about CBG when the Bank of Ghana revoked the licenses of five banks which led to the establishment of CBG on 18th August, 2018. He further outlined some of the challenges CBG inherited such us trust issues, balance sheet issues where liabilities were about ₵7.9billion but asset was just about ₵1.1billion as well as other numerous challenges.
The MD for CBG in his presentation that despite the challenges, the bank has been able to excel in its deliveries in making sure all the branches of CBG across the country are running effectively and efficiently as well as making use of digitization where they have introduced digital lending among others.
The Director General for GBC who also led his team to make a presentation on behalf of GBC commended SIGA especially the D-G, Hon. Stephen Asamoah Boateng for his efforts in making sure that states owned entities from time to time have interactions with Ghanaians. Something that he said had never happened before.
The DG of GBC outlined his presentation in four steps such as, History, Mandate, Finance and Infrastructure and Mindset where gave a history about GBC being the oldest “media empire” in Ghana and celebrated it 86th birthday in July, 2021.
He also talked about what GBC is investing in as part of their successes and how they are transforming GBC from bureaucracy to a business.
Present at the program was the General Manager, Finance and Administration of SIGA, Mr. Andrews Akwasi Frimpong, Heads of Divisions, Technical Advisors, Staff of SIGA, CBG and GBC
