PNC IN TURMOIL, Meeting Ends In Fisticuffs
The struggling minority party the baby of the late president ,Dr Hilla Limann the People’s Convention party is not living in peace as a result of internal wrangling’s bedeviling the party. On the 1st of September, 2021 at the party’s head office at Abavana Junction near Pig Farm in Accra a very sordid spectacular scenes of verbal give and take characterized a meeting to depose its unrepentant General Secretary Janet Nabilla ostensibly on charges of indiscipline and uncooperating.
At a Press conference to press home charges to justify her removal, supporters of the estranged Gen. Sec succeeded in disrupting the planned presser by verbally assaulting the National Executive Committee led by the party’s Chairman, Moses Danibaa. Whiles the party claimed to have suspended the Gen Sec , she insists she still the Gen Sec since she intimates only Congress can vote her out.
Accusations and counter accusations flew around in a rather bizarre circumstances rendering the whole exercise non starter. In an interview with the press, Mr Moses Danibaa accused the Gen Sec of disrespect for the party hierarchy and rank and file of the party.
He accused Janet of disregarding the party’s laid down constitution and conventions. Among other things, he accused her of not attending meetings but running the party from her house. She was also accused of financial impropriety and one woman show. But the embattled General Secretary vehemently disagreed with these allegations and rather smeared the party executives with financial embezzlement , chauvinism and swashbuckling.
She said, when she assumed duty as the New G/ S, the party had about 1.7 m Ghana in their account. However through the unapproved machinations of Mr Danibaa and Mr David Apasera , all the account has been dehydrated. She recounted how she rushed to the Electoral Commission to pick a cheque of 30,000.00 as a amount of refund to the party to pay for some rents due in the Ashanti Region.
She accused Mr Apasera and Danibaa for colluding to withdraw monies from the party’s account instead of her being part of the signatories. She alleged that the two men have lost credibility and touch in the party and are trying hard to jostle her off to deplete the party’s account and they see her as the stumbling block in their track to achieve their desire.
Madam Janet Nabilla vowed that despite her gender , she’s prepared to stand her ground to ensure transparency and accountability to move the party forward. She told the journalists that the rank and file are not happy with these two men and they support her stance.
“They say l don’t stay in office. What is in the office ? I go out to lobby, attend meetings, meet people and look for sponsors. Most of the work is outside, unless there’s an important meeting in the office. All party executives don’t stay in the office except there’s a meeting.
They are beating about in a bush, am going nowhere” She pointed out that when she asked the two men to provide receipts for the money they have withdrawn from the party’s account they couldn’t but they rather are the ones levelling unfounded charges against her. “They don’t think of the sinking of the party but rather how to take away the few Cedis we have, isn’t it outrageous ?
Since the death of the originator of the PNC Dr Hilla Limann ,the party had always been battling to stand on its feet.
