FDA Cautions Against Body Enhancement Products
The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has cautioned manufactures and sellers of unregistered body enhancement products on the Ghanaian markets to desist from such act.
The FDA said this act is illegal and can have adverse health implications on consumers.
The FDA said in a statement that as part of its routine market surveillance, they have noted with utmost concern how some companies are producing, selling and advertising body enhancement products with no authorisation from the authority and in contravention with the Public Health Act 2012 (Act 851).
Sections 111 and 114 of the Public Health Order Act 851 of 2012 mandates any one into the manufacturing and advertising of regulated products to seek the approval of the FDA.
“The authority will not relent on its mandate to protect the wellbeing of the consuming public.
“Therefore the public is urged not to patronizing such product as their quality and safety cannot be guaranteed,” the statement said.
