Goasohene targets accelerated development at 13th enstoolment anniversary
Goaso, the Ahafo regional capital, will go gay tomorrow when the Omanhene of the area, Nana Kwasi Bosomprah, marks 13 years of his enstolment with a durbar.
The Goaso Traditional Council said all COVID-19 protocol would be observed to ensure the success of the event.
Nana Bosomprah is using the anniversary to plan for the accelerated development of the traditional area.
The Omanhene said developing Goaso was a shared responsibility for which reason he and his people would do their best to support the government in that direction.
At the Manhyia Palace 13 years ago, Nana Bosomprah took the Mponponsuo sword, and swore the Ntamkesie ( Great Oath) before the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, to be loyal to the Golden Stool at all times, and also follow the good works of his predecessors.
It was a momentous occasion as it ended a biting chieftaincy dispute that stalled the development of the traditional area.As part of the activities marking the anniversary, the Omanhene joined the Graphic Communications Group Limited and Zoomlion to undertake a clean up exercise at Goaso.Other activities were a blood donation exercise and football competition.
Speaking to the Daily Graphic at Goaso, Nana Bosomprah said 13 years had brought with it enormous progress.
“Goaso was chosen as the regional capital, something I and my people are proud of and for which we are most grateful to the present government, “ he said.
To ensure that Goaso advances in development, the Omanhene said he had given out tracts of land totalling 320 acres free of charge for various development projects.
The lands are for the construction of offices and residential accommodation for the Regional Coordinating Council (RCC), a new regional hospital, affordable housing, regional police offices and a stadium.
