Karpowership Ghana adjudged Best Company in Mentorship Programmes and Initiatives

Karpowership Ghana has been adjudged the Best Company in Mentorship Programmes and Initiatives at the Women in Mining and Energy Awards.

The award recognized the power producing company for the numerous initiatives it has rolled out to mentor young people into great adults, and programmes aimed at helping resolve challenges local communities face.

The award ceremony recognized the outstanding achievements, contributions and value additions of women in mining and energy sectors.

It also celebrated the role and achievements of women who have made significant contribution to the two sectors.

The award ceremony also sought to create awareness on the importance and need for the inclusion of women in these industries.

The ceremony, which was held at the Movenpick Hotel in Accra, saw a number of high-profile women in the mining and energy industries being presented with various awards.

Communications Specialist at Karpowership Ghana Ms. Sandra Amarquaye received the award on behalf of the company.

She told the media Karpowership Ghana has over the years championed various initiatives to help ensure the United Nation’s Sustainable Goals 4 and 5 on quality education and gender equality are achieved.

She said in 2017, the company introduced the Karpowership Mentorship Programme, which brings students in touch with accomplished industry personalities to help groom the students.

Over 400 students have benefitted so far from the initiative, which is being rolled out in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, and the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection.

“The Karpowership Mentorship Programme is designed to help young ones in their career choices and overcome challenges at the early stage. We have also supported the education of these students  with bursaries,” she explained.

Ms. Amarquaye again disclosed the company has introduced  a CSR programme dubbed Girl Power. The Girl Power programme is to empower young ladies in diverse  areas

As part of the initiative, Karpowership has trained over 30 girls in fashion accessories.
