NDC withdraws Karl Mark from EC’s Steering C’tee

Deputy General Sectretary of the ruling National Democratic Congress(NDC) Koku Anyidoho has disclosed that the party has directed the National Service secretariat to immediately withdraw the representation of Dr. Karl Mark Arhin on the Electoral Commission’s Steering Committee.
“We don’t want to involve ourselves with touchline noise, because we are set to winning the 2016 elections” Anyidoho told host Fiifi Banson on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa 102.3 FM Wednesday.
Pressure group Let My Vote Count Alliance(LMVCA) wants the steering committee recently inaugurated by the Electoral Commission ahead of the November polls to be dissolved on the basis that it’s biased towards the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC).
In a statement issued this week, the group said, “Take Dr Karl Mark Arhin, for example. He is, unashamedly, a card-bearing member of the ruling NDC. Indeed, Dr Arhin was, until recently, a former Deputy Director of International Affairs of the NDC. He is there ostensibly as a representative from the National Service Secretariat. This is what makes his nomination dangerous. The EC intends to use mainly National Service personnel as election officers. But how fair can this process be when the person nominated to facilitate this process is a leading member of the ruling party?”
Anyidoho admitted Mark’s affiliation with the NDC, but said the party after a meeting held yesterday has dispatched letters to both the EC and the National Service Secreatariat to remove Dr. Karl Mark from the committee.
