11 Model State – Of- The Art STEM Senior High Schools To Be Built Across The Country – Ministry of Education

Government is committed to repositioning our educational system through a whole-school reform. These reforms, anchored on Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), are expected to prepare the critical mass of empowered Ghanaians for national development and become competitive in the fourth industrial Revolution.

The ministry of education is building eleven (11) model state-of-the art STEM Senior High School across the country, each of which shall be equipped with 12 laboratories that would be one of the best in the world.

STEM will also be established in some existing Senior High Schools, which will benefit from an additional four (4) laboratories.

In addition, the programme is designed to start from the Basic Schools (i.e.,B-STEM) under which essential equipment,including robotics kit, electronics, computers, Promethean boards, projectors, etc.

This programme will equip learners with the 21st Century skills that is,(Creativity, Critical thinking, Communication, and Collaboration) required to drive the country into economic prosperity beyond aid.

This revelations were made by Dr. Eric Nkansah who represented the minister of education Dr. Osei Yaw Adutwum as the special guest of honor, during the Eighth 8th Congregation of Tamale College of Education with was held at the SACKEY HALL of the institution.

Where a total of 1067 comprising 563 and 504 for the 2019 and 2020 cohorts respectively. The 2019 cohort recorded seven (7) first Class Honors compared to 14 with the 2020 cohort.

The performance of the Diploma in Basic Education DBE cohort is the best since the inception of the DBE. They did not only increase the tally of First Class honor from 7 in 2019 to 14 in 2020 (100%); but also performed better across the various classification compared to their 2019 cohort.
