I rejected a UK based club job for Asante Kotoko – Nana Yaw Amponsah
Asante Kotoko SC CEO, Nana Yaw Amponsah has surprisingly disclosed he rejected an offer from a club in the United Kingdom to take up the Kotoko job because of the huge respect he’s got for the club.
The Asante Kotoko Board’s decision coupled with an approval from His Royal Majesty, Otumfour Osei Tutu II, appointed Nana Yaw Amponsah in August last year to lead the club management as the new Chief Executive Officer. Before his appointment, there were series of reports that were also linking the enterprising football administrator to take up a job at English Championship side Queens Park Rangers, with him confirming that development but didn’t reveal the actual club. Nana Yaw Amponsah has confirmed the earlier speculations that, he turned down an offer from a club in UK just to accept the Asante Kotoko SC job. He said; “There’s a club in UK that wanted to employ me as director of Football. People should respect the institution Asante Kotoko. My salary was negotiated with the board.” Since taking over the club in less than a year, the renowned football agent managed to secure Hisense and Erea as a mega headline and kit sponsorships for the club and also landed a partnership agreement with English Premier League side Southampton- a deal which was launched few weeks ago.
