Obuasi East District: NPP Group Protests AGAINST Reappointment of Hon. Faustina Amissah As DCE
A group of loyalists of the incumbent New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Obuasi East District of the Ashanti Region are up in arms against the possible reappointment of the incumbent DCE, Miss Faustian Amisssah. This strong agitations started when a local radio station in Obuasi, Time Fm dropped the hint of the reappointment of incumbent DCE of Obuasi East on Thursday 15th July 2021.
In a press release issued on Monday, 19th July 2021, the group was of the view that the DCE failed to perform to warrant her reappointment in office and however dared her to openly come out within twenty four hours of this release to mention her achievements to the people of Obuasi and Adansiman after her stay in office for almost three years.
The group through a press release used the opportunity to remind the President of the land, Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo Addo that, if he has any plans or has by any chance shortlisted Miss, Faustina Amissah, then the party is not only on it’s way to taste defeat with more than fifty percent of the votes in the district but also will be on a nose-dive which will certainly make ‘Breaking the Eight’ a herculean task.
We again believe the DCE misrepresented the sunctioned mandate of the president because, she woefully did everything parallel to both the collective interest of the grassroots and the people of Obuasi East as a whole. As if to rub salt in the injury, she used her office to eject most of the galamseyers from the sites and hid behind people who are not known in the district to do Illegal mining just to satisfy her selfish interest and that of her cartel.
It is not surprising however that, during one of the routine visits of the president to Fomena, the much revered Adansihene, Opagyakotwere Bonsra Afriyie ll, made a strong appeal to the president not to ever impose the DCE and MCE of Obuasi East and Obuasi Municipal respectively again on the people of Adansi because of their gross incompetence and abuse of office coupled with their deep involvement in galamsey activities.
Her reappointment will reaffirm the suspicion of the people of Obuasi East that senior members in government including the presidency were all beneficiaries of her rampant galamsey activities in the district hence her reappointment to continue to serve the illegal interest of her paymasters as against the interest of the good people of Obuasi East.
We are of the view that, any of the shortlisted Patriots all of who have rich histories in serving the party in various capacities can all represent the interest of the development of Obuasi East and its human resource hence our decision to appeal to His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo to nominate any one of them to serve as DCE for our infant district. They all have genuine leadership qualities and better exposure to move the district forward in the right direction.
We end by saying that the reappointment of Hon. Faustina Amissah as DCE of Obuasi East, would not only have negative impact on the government’s noble aim of curbing illegal mining and the common problems of the area, but it would adversely affect the fortunes and good records of the NPP government in Obuasi and it’s neighbouring towns since it will be fiercely resisted, they signaled.
