NUGS Leadership meets Works and Housing Minister
The Leadership of NUGS met the Minister for Works and Housing, Hon. Asenso Boakye in the early hours of today to discuss the menace of accommodation deficits on our school campuses and consequent annual hikes in residential fees.
The Union urged the ministry to turn its attentions to the campuses and bring some regulation to charges charged by private hostel owners. The Union also sought the Ministry’s intervention through private-public partnership to increase the accommodation facilities on the campuses as a way of regulating the demand pull inflation of the hostel prices.
The Minister took the opportunity to educate the leadership of the Union on Government’s Housing Policies to combat the over 2 million housing deficit in the country. He also charged the Union to strive to be very independent.
