Don’t blame us for your inefficiency – Water Company ‘fires’ Fire Service

Manager of the Accra East branch of the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL), Emmanuel Johnson has taken a swipe at the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) for blaming their inefficiency in fighting the fire outbreak at Makola on them.

Addressing a press conference on Thursday, July 8, 2021, he said the GWCL cannot be blamed because all the hydrants they GNFS claimed were not working were actually working.

But in a sharp rebuttal on Kessben 93.3 FM’s Breaking News Programmes, The Public relations officer of the Ghana National Fire Service Mr. Ellis Okoe Robinson stressed that Ghanaians should put the blame on Ghana Water Company for the low pressure of water in their hydrants.

Speaking to Ali Baba on Kessben Breaking News, he also called on the general public to come to the aid in solving their challenges. Ellis Okoe observed that public education is very important to curb fire outbreak incidents. According to him, the equipment, personnel, PPE, and other logics to aid them to discharge their professional duties are inadequate.
