The GFA decision n Phar Rangers is bogus – Kofi Manu
Veteran Football Administrator, Kofi Manu, famously referred to as ‘Blue Boy’ has described the decision of the Ghana Football Association to ban Phar Rangers as bogus stating they have no basis to do that.
The GFA Disciplinary Committee came out with a ruling on Tuesday which saw second-tier outfit Phar Rangers handed a five year ban from competing in any of the recognised GFA competitions having decided to withdraw themselves from playing in the ongoing season due to maltreatment they get from referees. On a second thought, they agreed to return after series of consultations but was stopped by the GFA who have now come out with their final decision on the issue. The ban wasn’t just labelled on the club but goes on to affect all stakeholders excluding the players, who have been given the mandate by the Player Status Committee to join any club since they are free agents now. Affecting all stakeholders of the club means founder, Nana Yaw Amponsah will have to step down as the CEO of Asante Kotoko SC and also, will be ineligible to compete in the next GFA elections. With this, the experience administrator in an interview with Opemsuo FM in Kumasi, has rubbished the decision of the Disciplinary Committee stating they have no right to pass that ruling. He said; “The ruling of the Disciplinary Committee of the GFA against Phar Rangers is hollow, bogus and nothing short of witch-hunting.” The former football agent has been given a three-day ultimatum to appeal the decision.
