Produce Auditor-General’s Report to Incriminate Suame MP or Forever Shut UP – NPP Chairman
The Former Presiding Member of Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), Nana Kofi Senyah Frimpong has been dared to produce Auditor-General’s report to prove his allegation of misapplication of Common Fund against Hon Osei Kyei-Mensah Bonsu, Majority Leader and Member of Parliament for Suame.
Similar allegation was made by Nana Kofi Senyah, during the 2016 Presidential and Parliamentary elections, which was found to be a calculated attempt to soil the image of the Majority Leader and Minister for Parliamentary Affairs.
Addressing the media in Kumasi, the Second Vice Chairman for Suame Constituency, Mr Richard Akwasi Asante, expressed shock at such allegation and called on Nana Senyah to produce a copy of the Auditor-General’s report to incriminate the legislator for misusing the fund.
According to him, the then Coordinating Director of KMA responded to the preliminary question raised by the auditors in 2016 on the distribution of bags of cement and other materials to MPs, and was never captured in the Auditor-General’s report for such particular year.
Mr Asante disclosed that prior to the 2016 elections, Nana Kofi Senyah accused all MPs in Kumasi for misapplication of Common Fund, which was found out to be palpable untruth following his inability to support such claim with evidence.
He disclosed that Nana Senyah’s recent allegation on the misapplication of common funds by Hon Kyei-Mensah Bonsu Nana Senyah, which was aired by Opemsuo FM a Kumasi based private radio station, has necessitated the need for the production of evidence to prove such claim especially the particular year the Auditor-General’s report was released.
‘Nana Senyah put it on wasup page of Suame NPP and asked me in particular to access the Auditor-General’s report in which the MP has misapplied the Common Fund but l told him, in a subsequent telephone conversion that, l am not privy to such report’ Mr Asante said.
The provision of the particular year of the Auditor-General’s report , according to him, will help interested persons to fish out a copy of such report from the sector ministry and parliament if the Suame MP has secretly managed to take the purported report from the Suame Municipal Assembly to avoid scrutiny.
He said Ghanaians, particularly residents of Suame, will be interested to know whether or not the funds allocated for developmental projects have been misapplied by the Member of Parliament hence appropriate measures will be put in place to deal with the MP accordingly.
Failure to produce the report to prove such allegation, he said, it will ordinarily amount to personal hatred and malicious attempt to zero in on Hon Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu to only soil the reputation of the Majority Leader and MP for Suame.
‘It is very simple. You and l know that the Suame MP is not an angel so Nana Kofi Senyah should produce the Auditor-General’s Report or at least the date of the report to help us incriminate the MP or forever shut up. Mr Asante said.
On the Suame Municipal Chief Executive race, Mr Asante debunked the allegation that the Majority Leader submitted only two names, consisting of Professor John Osei Bobie-Boahin, incumbent MCE, and Hon Maxwell Ofosu Boakye, Presiding Member.
According to him, when the application was opened, three persons including Dr Richard Boadi Suadwa submitted their applications to be considered for such position and to the best of his knowledge, all the three applicants have been shortlisted by a committee set up to vet all applicants at the Regional Coordinating Council under the auspices of the Ashanti Regional Minister, Hon Simon Osei Mensah.
The Vice Chairman disclosed that the appointment of Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) is a constitutional duty of the President therefore Hon Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu has no authority to appoint someone as the Municipal Chief Executive for Suame.
