BREAKING: Asante Kotoko report USM Alger to FIFA over unpaid transfer fee of Kwame Opoku
The Porcupine Warriors have dragged USM Alger to the World football governing body over unpaid transfer fee of the 22-year-old attacker.
Ghana Premier League heavyweights Asante Kotoko have officially written to FIFA following the unsporting behavior of the Algerian Ligue 1 club after the acquisition of Kwame Opoku in the last transfer window. Opoku joined USM Alger on a four-and-half year deal from Asante Kotoko for a transfer fee reported to be in the region of €500,000.
According to a report filed by Kumasi FM, the management of Asante Kotoko decided to report the Algerian club to FIFA for failing to honour their obligation to settle the transfer fee of Opoku since May. Opoku sealed a move to USM Alger after making his debut for the senior national team of Ghana in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against South Africa. He scored nine goals in his 20 game outings for Asante Kotoko during his short spell at the club before leaving to join USM Alger in May. Opoku has scored two goals and provided two assists in his 6 game outings for USM Alger in his maiden season.
