Kotoko offers pay rise for Justice Blay to extend contract – Details

Asante Kotoko is ready to extend the contract of Midfielder Justice Blay, the Interim Management of the club has reiterated.

The former Medeama player contract’s with Kumasi Asante Kotoko comes to an end in a few days, the club has indicated according to a press release issued on Monday.

The statement said Kumasi Asante Kotoko has offered a new contract to the player with improved conditions.

According to checks by Kessben Sports, Blay’s monthly salary of GHC,4000 has been moved up to GHC6000 in the new offer.

The club debunked early reports in the local media which suggested Kotoko offer the player a 6-month contract extension.

READ BELOW THE STATEMENT ISSUED BY THE CLUB:

Asante Kotoko Sporting Club has learned with shock stories making rounds in the media that Management is reluctant about renewing the contract of player Justice Blay, which is set to expire in a few days”

“We wish to place on record that these stories making rounds have no basis and are borne of malice ostensibly aimed at causing disaffection to the club. For the records, the club presented a proposal to the player, which included the length of the contract renewal and financial consideration. It must be made clear that at no point was a 6-month contract proposed to the player. It comes to us as a surprise that a discussion between the player who intimated to us today, January 9, 2024, that he was going to get his “management” to conclude discussions with us would be in the media, when in fact, both the player and the club have not agreed anything in principle other than the proposal given to the player, which frankly does not even include a 6-month contract extension”

“We urge our supporters to remain calm and be circumspect about what is being circulated, especially on social media, as the information out there is totally false.”

“Let us take this opportunity to inform our teeming supporters and the public that at all times the club will endeavour to operate professionally, devoid of any external pressure or personal sentiments. And the interest of both the club and the player would ultimately be considered.”

Thank you.

Signed

Management.
