LMVC to embark on another demo against EC if…

Pro- opposition Pressure group, Let My Vote Count Alliance has given the Electoral Commission a one week ultimatum to announce the dates for a voter validation exercise. According to the group, the EC by its actions so far seems not to be committed to removing the over 600,000 ghost names in the electoral roll through voter validation as suggested by the five-member committee it set up to investigate the concerns over credibility of the voters’ register.
Speaking to Citi News, Convener of the group, David Asante said if the EC fails to heed to their call, a nationwide mass action will be organised against them. He explained that “as contained in the 77-page document presented by the VCRAC Crabbe committee to the EC that the electoral register is overly bloated and it’s not fit for purpose and that validation is the only way to clean the register.” “Up to date the Electoral Commission of Ghana has not said a thing about how it intends to clean the register, make it fit for purpose through the validation process indicated in the committee’s report which was upheld by the EC. We have given the EC an ultimatum in a matter of one week come back to Ghanaians to tell the people of Ghana how the EC intends to make the register credible by validating the electorates on the electoral roll for us to have a credible register for election 2016.” David Asante explained that if after the one week and the EC has not made any decision “the good people of Ghana will advise ourselves and the Let My Vote Count Alliance. We will massively embark on another demonstration.”
