When women goof Mahama punishes, when men goof, they get second chance – Ursula

Ablekuma West MP Ursula Owusu-Ekuful says she has noticed a trend that women who goof in President Mahama’s administration do not get a second chance unlike their male counterparts.
The gender activist explained men who mess up in government are ‘rehabilitated’ and kept at the presidency as Presidential Staffers.
Listing top women officials who have been given the sack, the legislator pointed to the sacking of Deputy Communications minister Victoria Hammah, Deputy Gender minister, Hawa Boya Gariba and Transport minister, Dzifa Attivor.
Victoria Hammah was sacked in November 2013 after her unguarded comments were caught on tape and leaked. She had vowed to make GH₵ 1 million her target in government in the leaked tape.
Transport minister Dzifa Attivor resigned after news broke that government had used oil revenue to spray 113 public buses at an over-priced value of 3.6 million Ghana cedis.
“Hawa Gariba had a fight with somebody….everybody has forgotten about her…very nice woman great personality….where is she now?”
Adding to the list, Deputy Finance minister Mona Quartey also cited the sacking of the CHRAJ boss over abuse of her office.
Lauretta Lamptey had stayed in hotels while the renovation of her official residence had taken over 2 years. Her sacking “always breaks my heart”, the deputy minister lamented.
“There is a little injustice when you look at how men are treated after a situation and how women are treated after they get into trouble” she observed.
These women were “promptly sacked” when they embarrassed the government, but men have done “terrible things”, Ursula said, and provided a catalogue of masculine gaffes.
She said in October 2014, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Ahafo Ano South in the Ashanti Region, Mr Gabriel Barima embarrassed government when he publicly ranted and stormed out of a public meeting after someone heckled him slightly.
Top NDC officials pleaded for his pardoning after he was sacked.  Gabriel Barima was eventually reinstated.
Sports minister Elvis Afriyie Ankrah put Ghana in embarrassing international headlines during the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. Player revolt, mismanagement of funds for the World Cup led to his resignation. He was also subsequently sent to the Flagstaff House.
Her comments follow fresh attention on the quality of human resource at the Flagstaff House after the brochure produced for “atrocious” Ghana@59 Independence Day celebration was replete with errors and faulty sentence structure.
The Ag. Director of the Information Services Department  Francis Kwarteng Arthur has been relieved of his position and returns to the Presidency as a presidential staffer. Another staff in charge of Communications, Stan Dogbe has been reportedly demoted to “small small protocol duties”.
Ursula Owusu says she is ‘dumbfounded’ at the gross incompetence at the Presidency. The system of political appointments are not meritocratic, she suggested and questioned the pedigree of Stan Dogbe and Francis Kwarteng Arthur.
“The fact that this man has been fired isn’t enough. We need to find out how he got into this position in the first place….how did he get there is the first place?” she expressed disgust.
Cataloguing the embarrassments associated with Stan Dogbe, the Ablekuma West MP recalled the smashing of a journalist’s recorder in September last year and some missing pages in the President’s speech.
“Countless embarrassing incidents which were laid at his door step. Where is he now?….he still has a job” she charged.
