NPP elects female tutor as parl. candidate for Abuakwa North
Members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Abuakwa North Constituency of the Eastern Region, have elected Mrs. Gifty Twum Ampofo, a tutor of the Akosombo International School, to lead the party in the upcoming by-election in the area.
The by-election was necessitated by the death of Member of Parliament for the constituency, Joseph Boakye Danquah-Adu, who was murdered at his Accra home in February, 2016.

Mrs. Gifty Twum Ampofo won the primary with 207 votes after beating her two contenders, Kyei Brobbey and Isaac Osei Ampadu, who had 27 and 104 votes respectively.345 delegates voted in Tuesday’s exercise.

Meanwhile, the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) already has a parliamentary candidate for the 2016 election in the person of Mr Anthony Osei Gyimah but it is unclear whether he will contest in the March 29th by-election.
