Emelia wins Royal Africa Award
Award-winning actress, Emelia Brobbey has added another award to her collection when she was honoured with the Best International Act at the Royal Africa Awards which took place in Italy last week.
Although she missed out on the awards ceremony, representatives of Golden Bees Entertainment, a movie production house in whose movie she featured in Italy picked the award on her behalf.
“I am happy to have won the award because there were very good entertainers I competed with. This shows that my work is being recognised. I starred in a movie called Born Again where I played the role of a married woman and I believe I played my role well and that won the award for me,” she said.
Currently, the pretty actress who won Best Actress in A Supporting Role both at Ghana Movie Awards (GMA) and Kumawood Movie festival Awards in 2012 is on set shooting a movie called Amakye and Dede.
The film directed by Kofi Asamoah features Majid Michel, Salma Mumin, Kalybos and Ahuofe Patri.
“I have not been really active for some time now but I am going all out this year. I thank everyone for supporting me and I will be more ‘visible’ this year,” she said.
Emelia, whose versatility allows her to play any role of her choice is also the CEO of End Time Films and Emelia Brobbey Charity Foundation.
According to Emelia, she is highly indebted to actor, Daniel Adeleye who introduced her into the movie industry.
“I can still remember my first audition by Mr. Samuel Nyamekye C.E.O of Miracle Films at the Kumasi Centre for Culture which landed me my first role in a movie titled Tribal war in 2002,” Emelia narrated.
She has since shot over 150 movies and still looks forward in making Ghana and her fans all over the world proud.
