Angry Dumso residents Kill 80 Cattle in Protest of Farms Destruction
Tension is said to be brewing in Dumso-Bethel in the Kintampo South District of the Brong Ahafo Region after angry residents slaughtered over 80 cattle belonging to nomadic Fulani herdsmen in the area.
It is gathered that the Fulani herdsmen called a bluff of residents and dared them after they severally complained about the animals destroying farms in the area.
The aggrieved residents mostly youth of the area, therefore killed the animals in protest over the conduct of the Fulanis and their cattle which they observed is affecting agricultural activities in Dumso Bethel and surrounding communities.
Haruna Dramani spokesperson of the irate youth on Accra-based Joy Fm appealed for security for the area as the youth have fled the community leaving behind only women and children.
He indicates that those left behind are vulnerable and could be attacked by the Fulanis and therefore emphasized the need for adequate protection as they cannot tell the next line of action of the herdsmen who may be counting their losses.
Police in the area have revealed that the community is currently under their lenses to avert any attack on residents and their dependents.
