Liverpool have been given the green light to sign Alex Teixeira after his club Shakhtar Donetsk admitted he can go.
The Reds are widely reported to be pushing to sign Teixeira before the close of the transfer window but have already seen two bids be rejected.
However, Shakhtar manager Mircea Lucescu says the club won’t stand in his way if he wants to leave before the transfer window shuts.
‘I don’t want to keep a player against his desire,’ Lucescu told FourFourTwo.
‘He wants to play in a big championship.
“Our president knows when it is the time for Teixeira to go.
‘He’s incredible, very fast, very good technique. He doesn’t get injured, and every year he gets better and better.’
Liverpool have offered £24.5m already for the forward but Shakhtar apparently want a fee closer to £38m before they’d do business.
