The experienced Bielsa, who has coached both Argentina and Chile, is now 6/4 to take over at the Liberty Stadium
Former Argentina and Chile coach Marcelo Bielsa is the new favourite to succeed Garry Monk as manager of Swansea City.
Bielsa has been cut into 6-4 to take over at the Liberty Stadium after Monk was relieved of his duties last week following a woeful run of Premier League form.
Caretaker boss Alan Curtis took charge of the Swans in last Saturday’s defeat at Manchester City with chairman Huw Jenkins now starting interviews for a new man in charge
And if the bookies are to be believed it’s Bielsa who is the most likely to take over after moving ahead of the likes of former Sunderland boss Gus Poyet, Unai Emery, Jorge Sampaoli and Roberto di Matteo.
Bielsa has a wealth of experience in South America and has managed two of the biggest nations on the continent in Argentina and Chile.
He’s recently taken charge of Athletic Bilbao in Spain and Marseille in France before quitting the Ligue 1 club in August after a conflict with his management.
Nonetheless, with no Premier League experience Bielsa would still represent something of a gamble as Jenkins looks to steer the Swans away from the troubled waters of the top-flight’s lower half.
