It was a bad call, a mistake & could happen to anyone – Referee Kalla reacts to Heart of Lions disallowed Goal
Retired Referee Owusu Mensah Kalla has reacted to Hearts Of Lions’ disallowed goal vs. Kotoko in Ghana Premier League matchday 1 at the Baba Yara Sports stadium.
When the ball went into the goal, it appeared that Heart of Lions had gained the advantage, but the assistant referee quickly raised his flag for offside.
This decision was eventually shown to be wrong because the player in question was really onside when the ball was played.
The conviction with which assistant referee Gilbert Adom Mensah raised the flag even before the ball crossed the goal line drew attention and increased criticism.
Retired Referee Owusu Mensah Kalla speaking on Kessben TV after the game reaffirmed that the assistant referee had his call wrong but was quick to add it was a mistake that could happen to anyone.
