Tamale: Irate youth attack SDA Hospital, assault four nurses

Some irate youth from Changili, a suburb in the Tamale Metropolis of the Northern Region on Monday night attacked the Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) Hospital in Tamale and in the process assaulted four nurses who were on duty at the hospital.
According to the Northern Regional Public Relations Officer, ASP Ebenezer Tetteh, the incident occurred after two young men who were at the hospital to visit a patient were talking on top of their voice during a phone conversation, thus, creating panic among the patients on admission at the facility.
He said the two were asked by some nurses on duty to leave the ward to receive the call outside but they were infuriated by the order and left the hospital to mobilise some youth from their area and attacked the facility.
According to the police, no arrests have been made so far. He said the four nurses who were assaulted have been issued with police medical forms to seek medical attention while investigations were ongoing to bring the perpetrators to book.
As a result of the attack the hospital suspended operations on Tuesday morning.
As at the time of filing this report, authorities and board members were locked up in a meeting on the attack and declined to comment on the issue.
However, according to sources close to the hospital, this was the third time such incident had happened.
