KNUST flopped event makes Lydia Forson and Joey B stranded in Kumasi

Articulate Ghanaian actress Lydia Forson and musician Joey B were stranded in Kumasi over the weekend, with management of the hotel in which they were lodged threatening to detain them over non payment of bills.
Security at the Kosados Arena Hotel at Aprade Junction, in the middle of the drama, actually threatened to lock the main gate and hold the actress and musician hostage.
The two celebrities were officially invited to Kumasi to make an appearance at an event dubbed Ladies Night Out by Regime Eventz at the KNUST CCB Auditorium.
But things did not turn out well and ended up in an embarrassing drama.
The show flopped abysmally due to what is believed to be lack of proper promotion on the part of the organisers, some students of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science & Technology (KNUST).
Lydia and Joey B, after flying to Kumasi to honour the invitation, were waiting at their hotel for the event organisers to pick them up or even call them to come over but after waiting till late night, the actress went to the venue of the event to find out what was happening.
She had to return to her hotel room because the auditorium was virtually empty, with just a handful of people loitering around. The organisers asked the actress to return to the hotel and that they would invite her to an ‘after party’ event but they never did.
The next morning the organisers and their leader, whose name was given as Kwame aka Lilo, were nowhere to be found. Several calls placed to their handsets did not go through as the phones were switched off.
The organisers did not show up to secure return tickets for the two celebrities to return to Accra and pay the bills at their hotel.
Management of the Kosados Arena Hotel would also not allow the two entertainers and their assistants to check out. Their reason was that organisers had not settled the bills.
The misunderstanding created a scene at the hotel, with the hotel’s security threatening to lock the main gate of the hotel to stop the stars from leaving.
Eventually, a man whose name was given as ‘Loggy’ and said to be the agent who contracted the stars for the organisers showed up and said he would buy the return tickets for them.
This, however, did not solve the problem of unpaid hotel bills.
The stars insisted they had no contract with the hotel and had not even booked any room so they would not allow themselves to be detained.
Lydia Forson and Joey B returned to Accra on Sunday without full payment from the organisers.
