BREAKING: Kotoko’s nemesis Franklin Akumatey banned by GFA for 10 games and demoted to division one league

Ref Franklin Akumatey who officiated Bibiani Gold Stars vs Kotoko has been slapped with 10 games ban by the GFA Review Committee Kessben Sports has gathered.

After he exhausts the 10 games ban, he we will not return to the Premier League to officiate but the division one league.

Franklin Kumatey who officiated the Bibiani Gold Stars vs Asante Kotoko in the BetPawa Ghana Premier League matchday 13 after the game apologized to the management and fans of Kumasi Asante Kotoko noting he erred in his penalty decision against Kotoko.

In an interview with Kessben FM, he rendered an apology to the Kotoko fraternity admitting that he got his penalty call against Kotoko wrong.

“It was a human error, I did not see it well at that flash moment. The ball rather hit the hand of the Bibiani player, not the Kotoko player.

It was after the game that I saw that. I got it wrong. It was a human error but not deliberate. I consulted my assistants and I did not get enough help so they told me to decide for myself. I wish had a VAR that afternoon”

A fortnight after his apology, the Ghana Football Association’s Match Review Committee has privately communicated to him the ban and the demotion as a correctional punishment for the wrong call.

A source whispered to Kessben Sports that Ref Akumatey’s public apology about the wrong call palliated the punishment which was to be handed.
