I’ll defend Afoko, Agyepong till death – Arthur Kennedy

A leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Athur Kennedy has vowed to continually defend the beleaguered National Chairman and General Secretary of the party, Paul Afoko and Kwabena Agyepong till death.
According to him, his resolve to defend the two party officials who have come under severe attack from within the party is not because of who they are, but because they have sacrificed their lives for the party.
Very senior party members including a founder father George Ayisi Boateng have advised the NPP Presidential Candidate Nana Akuffo Addo not to trust Paul Afoko and Kwabena Agyepong because they are out to work against his victory in the upcoming 2016 general elections which promises to be keenly contested.
The National Council of Elders recently also tried to get the Chairman of the Party, Paul Afoko forced out of the Party as it petitioned the Disciplinary Committee to ensure he’s made to step aside until the end of the 2016 elections.
However speaking to Kwaku Owusu Adjei on Si Mi So on Kasapa 102.3 FM, Dr Arthur Kennedy stated that the National Chairman and Secretary are being unfairly treated, adding that there is no justification in questioning the two’s trustworthiness to the Party and Nana Akufo Addo.
“It is wrong for anybody to contest Afoko and Agyepong’s reliability, these people deserve some credit. I find it very difficult to understand how somebody can trust Freddy Blay who just came to the party from CPP with a long list of mistrust and Bawumiah who is also a recent NDC convert, and yet we can’t trust Afoko and Kwabena Agyepong who have given all their lives to the party.
I welcome new people new people like Bawumia and Blay to the party, but those who have labored for this party must also be given some credit. The same thing happened with J.B Danquah and the rest who soon after they saw Kwame Nkrumah, believed so much in him, and by the time they   realized Nkrumah had left and formed his CPP. So while we welcome new people, we should also celebrate old people who have served the party. I have no hesitation, I’ll defend Afoko and Kwabena till death not because of who they are but on principle that when someone has sacrificed for the party, it is wrong to vilify him based on falsehood”.
