Implicated judges ordered to reappear before investigative c’ttee

The 22 lower court judges contesting the legality of the investigative committee set up by the judicial council will now have no option but to appear before it.
This was after the presiding judge, Justice Getrude Torkonoo dismissed the case brought before her by some of the judges alleged to have been involved in the judicial bribery scandal. The judges were seeking the court to declare as “illegal” the work of the committee and their subsequent suspension, null and void.
In her ruling justice Getrude Torkonoo said the Judicial Council was only performing its administrative role by appointing the committee to look into the matter, an action she says “cannot be illegal.” The application to strike out the case was brought by the Attorney General. Earlier in the day, the injunction against the committee was also struck out by the same judge.
