Ghana is "rotten, smelly" – Rev. Asante
Chairman of the National Peace Council, Rev. Emmanuel Asante, has described Ghana as “rotten and smelly” after watching the three-hour video on the judicial scandal by undercover journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas.
Titled ‘Ghana in the Eyes of God’, 34 judges and over 180 court clerks were caught on tape taking monies, goats and demanding sex to influence judgments on some crucial cases.
Speaking to Adom News after the premiere Tuesday, Rev. Asante said he was disappointed and shocked after watching the damaging video.
“It is painful watching men and women charged to protect our rights compromise themselves with such careless abandon. This clearly shows how our own doings has made this country rotten and smelly”.
Rev. Asante added: “This is what we have seen and it shows that this is just the tip of the iceberg because it tells you corruption has eaten to the very core of our society and we need to wake up as a people and do something about it”.
Meanwhile, thousands of Ghanaians who thronged the International Conference Centre to watch the video told Starr News that they were saddened by how judges stooped so low to be induced by money.
