Judges Corruption video premieres tonight

The long-awaited video revealing how some 34 Ghanaian judges took bribes to throw away cases before them will premiere tonight, a High Court has ruled.

One of the indicted judges Justice Paul Uuter Dery filed a suit to stop the premiering of the video at the Accra International Conference Centre. The suit was against the Director of Estates and General Services at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Chief Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Manager of the Accra International Conference Centre and the Attorney General.

The case was struck out on Tuesday after lawyers of Dery withdrew the case since they could not serve ace investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas with the writ.

Presiding over the case, Tuesday, Justice Gertrude Torkonu said the video is of public interest.

The judges were captured on video allegedly negotiating with agents including court clerks and police prosecutors to free suspects in robbery and murder cases.

Titled ‘Ghana in the Eyes of God – Epic of Injustice’, the piece of a two-year painstaking investigative will be shown at the Accra International Conference Centre tonight and tomorrow.
