A combined team of security officers numbering more than 2,000, have been deployed across the country to protect ballots and maintain security during Tuesday’s District Assembly elections. The security plan for the elections will cover periods before, during and after the electoral process
A statement issued and signed by the Director-General of Public affairs DCOP Rev. David Nenyi Ampah- Bennin indicated that,”the deployment of a combined team of personnel from the Ghana Police Service, Ghana Prisons Service, Ghana National Fire Service and Ghana Immigration Service to various polling stations and locations to maintain law and order for the peaceful conduct of the election, will start on Sunday 30th August, 2015.”
The statement further called on the general public to co-operate with the Police and the other security agencies to ensure a peaceful and a successful process. It also entreated members of the public to observe the electoral laws, and respect the laid down procedures for the electoral process.

Meanwhile, the Police in Accra Police Command say they are all set to provide security for a smooth District assembly elections on Tuesday September 1.
According to the Accra Police Public Relations Officer (PRO), ASP Afia Tenge,her outfit will ensure strict compliance to all electoral laws to ensure that the election is conducted in an orderly manner.
Tenge said the Police will not tolerate any act that will compromise the peace in the country.
“We have a lot of operational strategies to ensure a peaceful conduct of this exercise. As part of security measures, sufficient police personnel have been deployed to the various polling stations” she said
