AG, Afenyo Markin at each other’s throat’ in court
The High court today witnessed heated exchanges in the case where a private freight forwarder is seeking an interlocutory to be placed on a purported contract between the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) and West blue.
The exchanges began when the Deputy Attorney General, Dominic Ayeni who was on his feet objecting to an argument in open court, asked the lawyer for the opposing side, Alex Afenyo Markin to “shut up” as he was still on his feet making a submission to the court.
In a sharp response Alex Afenyo Markin who was not enthused about the comments by the Deputy AG also reminded Mr. Ayeni that he “would not remain in opposition forever.”
The drama spilled outside the court too after proceedings.
The Deputy AG who was not so happy with events in court angrily reacted outside the court room when he was approached by one of the lawyers for the private freight forwarder.
He shouted at the lawyer, throwing his hands in the air told him that Mr. Afenyo Markin was not his coequal at the bar, hence he should be careful about how he deals with him.
The court subsequently set the 31st January to rule on the case.
