Notorious robber Johnson Kombian sentenced to death

An Accra high court has sentenced notorious armed robber Johnson Kombian to death by hanging.
Kombian who was charged with murder and conspiracy to commit murder in October 2010 was accused of ambushing and killing two Police officers and left another injured in the Nakpanduri area in the Northern region.
He had also denied before a seven-member jury, the charges proferred against him.
He was serving five years imprisonment when he broke jail in Tamale in 2010 under very surprising circumstances as described by Police and prison authorities.
Kombian, a businessman and farmer had escaped twice from the Tamale Prison, twice from Togo and once from the Gambaga Prisons.
He had explained that he escaped from prison custody because he could not stand the prevailing conditions.
The notorious robber had also denied claims that he was possessing supernatural powers.
According to him, if he had those supernatural powers he would have vanished from prison custody to meet his wife and children.
