Closing our transfer window while in pre-season is a big disadvantage in Ghana – Franko Naro

Senior sports pundit, Frank Owusu Ansah widely known as Franko Naro has raised a meaningful conversation regarding the timelines of the player transfer window in Ghana.

According to the astute sports journalist, it is a drawback for Ghanaian football clubs considering the time period the transfer window is closed.

The Ghana player transfer window is opened after the end of the season and closed a month before the league starts.

Naro reckons this structure can be tweaked for clubs to still purchase and register footballers during the first month of the league season.

In England and other serious football nations, the summer transfer window is closed one month after the league starts but in Ghana, the window is rather closed one month before the league starts.

This gives the clubs the opportunity to add up to their squads as the season will still be in session.

He suggested that moving forward the powers that be in Ghana football should reconsider the timelines the clubs have to sign new players.

The transfer window in Ghana was officially closed on Monday, 22nd August 2022 a month before the league is set to commence.
