Nkrumah Circle interchange will ease traffic – Mahama

President John Mahama has said the two opened flyovers at Nkrumah Circle are expected to facilitate easy transportation for commuters in Accra.
He noted that the project upon completion in the middle of 2016 will make road transportation to and fro Accra very comfortable, which will also impact positively on productivity.

The two flyovers named Nsawam and Akasanoma, have been officially opened to traffic to allow the contractors work on the other section of the main road.
The President in a brief speech prior to cutting the sod stated that his administration is committed to improving the transportation system in the country and is working feverishly towards that objective.
“We are also working on other roads in the Eastern part of Accra. The Giffard road is almost complete and the entire project will soon be opened,” he noted.
The €74.88million circle project is being jointly financed by the Brazilian and Ghanaian governments.
The flyovers link the central business district of Accra to the Kwame Nkrumah Circle, a key intersection in the major road network in the national capital.
It carries about 84,000 vehicles a day and constitutes a key bottleneck in the major road network that links the suburban areas of Accra to the central business district.
The three-tier interchange which started in 2013 when completed this year (2015) will transform the Kwame Nkrumah Circle into a pedestrian and motorist friendly zone with linkages to various suburbs in Accra.
