Dr. Kelvin Tackie Abia is new Ga Mantse

A new Ga Mantse has been installed, two years after the death of Tackie Tawiah III.
The Ga Traditional Council Sunday named 44-year-old Dr. Kelvin Tackie Abia as the new chief.
He will use the stool name King Dr. Takie Teiko Tsuru II, officials say
The exercise took place at the palace of the Ga Dzaase in Darkuman in Accra Sunday. It should bring to an end a two-year search for an heir.
Prior to today’s installation, Accra had for ten years had no substantive chief – with kingmakers failing to recognize Tackie Tawiah III, privately known as Dr. Joe Blankson – when he ruled.
Tackie Tawiah III became the fourth Ga Mantse since 1863 to have died while on the stool. He was a royal from the Teiko Tsuru We, one of four royal houses of the Ga State. He succeeded Nii Amugi II. He was installed chief on June 11, 2006, and was coronated on April 14, 2007.
King Dr. Takie Teiko Tsuru II becomes the 21st Chief of the Ga people.
