Unpaid junior doctors occupy Controller's office
Over 91 junior doctors who have not been paid for several months are this morning picketing at the offices of the Controller and Accountant General’s Department (CAGD).
The aggrieved doctors last week indicated that they would take such action after several attempts to request for their salaries to be paid went unheeded.
In an interview, one of the junior doctors said: ” We have gathered here to show them all the documents covering our employment and how much we are owed”.
They have sworn to stay within premises of the CAGD and Finance Ministry until all monies owed them are paid.
Meanwhile, Finance Minister Seth Terkper has assured the doctors that they will be paid in two weeks.
But the doctors say they do not believe the minister’s promises as many others promises made to them in the past have not been fulfilled.
