CPP sets September 19 for congress

The Convention People’s Party will elect national officers on September 19, persons familiar with the arrangement say.
The elections will be preceded by a National Executives Council Meeting a day before. Nominations for the process will open from August 12 to August 31 while vetting of nominees will be conducted on September 7 and 8.
The party has also fixed July 25 for the Upper East Regional Congress; and July 31 and August 1 for that of the Central and Greater Accra Regions respectively.
The outgoing executives were elected into office in 2007.
Party sources say they are looking forward to a much improved output in next year’s elections, after managing a woeful 113,494 of the total valid votes cast, representing 1.34 percent in the 2008 elections.
The Party has only one seat in Ghana’s Parliament.
