AG maintains charges against Asokwa MP
The Attorney General has maintained charges against the former Member of Parliament for Asokwa constituency in the Ashanti region, Hon. Kofi Jumah and his campaign manager Oscar Rechies of causing damage to electoral materials belonging to the Electoral Commission and resisting lawful arrest.
Mr Jumah and Mr Rechies appeared in court yesterday.
The accused persons petitioned the Attorney General to take over the case and advice the police on whether to go ahead or not.
The prosecutor, Supt. Emmanuel Akonor, told the court when the case was called at the Kumasi Circuit Court 2 presided over by Afia Adu-Amankwa at its sittings on Thursday.
Supt. Akonor pleaded with the court to give him ample time to study the case and the advise submitted by the Attorney General.
The court, upon agreement between the prosecutor and the counsel of the accused, adjourned the case to August 6.
Meanwhile, the AG has asked the court to proceed with the case.
